What is SAS?

SAS (pronounced “sass”) is a software suite used for data management, statistical analysis, and business intelligence. The name SAS originally stood for “Statistical Analysis System,” but the software has evolved to include a wide range of features and tools beyond statistical analysis.

SAS software can be used for a variety of tasks, including data cleaning and preparation, statistical modeling and analysis, predictive modeling and data mining, and reporting and visualization. It is widely used in industries such as finance, healthcare, retail, and government, among others.

SAS has a proprietary programming language, also called SAS, that is used to write code for data analysis and manipulation. The SAS programming language has a relatively easy-to-learn syntax and is known for its power and flexibility.

SAS also offers a graphical user interface (GUI) for those who prefer to work with a point-and-click interface rather than writing code. Additionally, SAS offers a variety of specialized modules and add-ons for specific tasks and industries, such as SAS Enterprise Miner for data mining and SAS Visual Analytics for data visualization.
