SAS Date & Time Formats

SAS date formats are used to convert dates and times stored as numeric values into human-readable text. Here are some of the most commonly used SAS date formats:

  • DATE9.: Displays the date in the format ddMMMyyyy, where dd is the day of the month, MMM is the abbreviation of the month, and yyyy is the year.
  • MMDDYY10.: Displays the date in the format mm/dd/yyyy, where mm is the month, dd is the day of the month, and yyyy is the year.
  • YYMMDD10.: Displays the date in the format yyyy-mm-dd, where yyyy is the year, mm is the month, and dd is the day of the month.
  • DATETIME.: Displays the date and time in the format ddMMMyyyy:hh:mm:ss, where dd is the day of the month, MMM is the abbreviation of the month, yyyy is the year, hh is the hour (in 24-hour format), mm is the minute, and ss is the second.
  • TIME.: Displays the time in the format hh:mm:ss, where hh is the hour (in 24-hour format), mm is the minute, and ss is the second.
  • MMDDYY8.: Displays the date in the format mm/dd/yy, where mm is the month, dd is the day of the month, and yy is the year (in two-digit format).
  • DDMMYY10.: Displays the date in the format dd/mm/yyyy, where dd is the day of the month, mm is the month, and yyyy is the year.

These are just a few examples of SAS date formats. There are many other formats available in SAS, depending on your specific needs.
